What are shaft nuts and lock washers used for?
Shaft nuts, or also locknuts, and locking plates are used to axially fix bearings on a shaft, for example. Due to the special shape of the nut and the locking plate, a tongue of the locking plate always engages in a groove of the shaft nut after the nut has been tightened successfully. This prevents accidental opening of the nut and you can be sure about the permanent securing and fixing of the bearing on the shaft or axle.In the inner diameter of the locking plate there is another single tongue that engages in a groove on the shaft or axis. This prevents the sheet from rotating on the shaft and thus also prevents the nut from being opened unintentionally via the tongues located on the outside diameter, a tongue being bent into one of the nut grooves with a punch and hammer.
