Where are lantern rings used?

Lantern rings, or also called sealing water rings, are used in stuffing box packings. On the one hand, the seal is cooled, on the other hand, the tightness is improved, since the packing cords fill with the sealing water and therefore the fabric has no chance of penetrating the seal. This keeps the machine clean on the outside and is easier to maintain in the future. Unfortunately not very often available in the used machine sector, we recommend a so-called Safematic® for your lantern ring. With these small accessories, setting the right pressure and the right amount of sealing water is easy.
